MARRIAGE SPLIT

Isn’t it strange.

Couples who you think are in a strong and reliable relationship and end up splitting up just goes to show you that the only certainties in life are taxes and death.

This man that I work with whom I am friends with has just split with his wife, and really I would have said that (going by the conversations I have with him) their marriage was strong and very easy going.

Not so. She, apparently, reckons they have drifted apart and she reckons they need some time apart. I suppose it does not mean the end of the road for them, and I hope it can work out for them, but so many times I have seen relationships have this ‘break apart’ and really it is just a fore runner to a permanent split.

Just goes to show, you never know what will happen in life!!!!

Ireland trip

I never did a post yesterday as I was quite busy at work, as I have found out that for the third time in 4 months I will have to go back out to Ireland to do work on instruments at another Pfizer pharmaceutical plant.

Although I enjoy it in respect that it is something out of the ordinary for my job, it is a lot of hassle, so I was checking out flights and accommodation, organising equipment etc, on top of my existing work load.

I will try and take some pictures and post them when I come back.

The unfortunate part is that I have to fly out on Sunday 21st of January, which means I lose half of my weekend…bummer.

I will be back on Friday 26th but if we get finished sooner it will be Thursday (hopefully).

OUR FRAGILE PLANET

I was watching another natural history programme last night, and I find them so depressing.

Why? I hear you ask me.

Well, I feel depressed because on these programmes you see how wildlife struggles to exists, the beauty of various places on Earth, and when the narrator makes the point that unless we humans make drastic changes to the way we pollute our world and control the way we destroy the natural landscape, a lot of species of animals will die out because their natural habitat will be gone for ever.

Global warming is coming, and although it is an unfortunate but inevitable fact of life since the planet is warming up anyway, the pollution that America, China, India and those countries of the old Soviet blok produce are increasing the Global Warming by an alarming rate, some say they are speeding it up by up to 10 times.

In 50 years time, over a hundred different animals will have lost their natural habit, sea levels will have risen several feet, flooding many low lying areas, and average summertime temperature will have increased by around 10 degrees Celsius.

I just wish that the Governments of these countries would get their heads out of their arseholes and do something now, instead of worrying about the economical impact of reducing green house gasses etc might have on their economy, otherwise it will to late….for all of us on this fragile little planet.

SOME SILLY NERD POSING FOR A PICTURE. I WONDER WHO IT COULD BE?Surprised

BALLOON FLIGHT

Last year I went in a hot air balloon as a gift from my wife for my 40th birthday. Here is a picture of Bewl Water in East Sussex.

JOKE OF THE DAY

I have secured a large batch of Saddam Hussain tee-shirts at knock down prices.

They are a bit tight around the neck but they hang well!!!!!!

CIVIL LIBERTIES

CIVIL LIBERTIES?

This is going to be my first controversial subject I am going to talk about.

I really do despise these civil liberty groups, as I find they do all the “do goody” stuff and end up making life a little less secure. They try and support the few at the risk of the many.

“In what way” you might ask. Well here are a few arguments I have.

  1. On the radio on Friday, I heard a report on the news that Police in Derbyshire were searching for 2 prisoners who had escaped from an open prison. They would not release pictures of the fugitives as it would breach THEIR (prisoners) civil liberties!!!!

WTF is all that about????????? What about us poor civilians who now know that there are 2 prisoners on the loose? Where is our civil liberties, our protection?

  1. Whilst our Government have tried on numerous occasions to bring in tough anti-terrorism laws, civil liberty groups have successfully managed to get these laws watered-down.

Does this mean the protection of the masses has been compromised, just so we can allow a few immigrants/possible terrorists their civil liberties?????

  1. The Government wants to introduce Identity Cards. I am fine with this, I have nothing to hide and it would not bother me if I had to show it to some inspector every day. And like the majority of the British public who have nothing to hide, we would feel a little more secure with these cards in use.

So why do civil liberty groups disagree with these ID cards? Maybe because all the people they are trying to protect are criminals, illegal immigrants and possible terrorists!!!!!!!!!

The safety and security of Britain and it’s people must be paramount, so surely the philosophy must be to sacrifice the few to save the masses, not the other way around!!!???!!!

What is your point of view on this??

NATIONALITY?WHO DO YOU LIKE?

I was playing an online game the other day, and it has a chatroom in it, and quite often there is always someone on there poking fun or running down people because of their nationality.

Quite often, it is American players slagging other people off, but you do get it from every direction.

SO…..QUESTION AND COMMENTS PLEASE….

What is your favourite nationalities?

Do you like Germans, Americans or Spanish for example!

Or would it be easier for you to say which ones you dislike?

And why do you like/dislike them?

TORCHWOOD IMAGE

TORCHWOOD

TORCHWOOD – SUCH A BRILLIANT SHOW!

I watched the last 2 episodes last night on BBC2 which were absolutely brilliant, just like all the other episodes

I agree with someone else who wrote on their blog that it asks more questions especially in relation to Captain Jack Harkness and I suppose Dr Who! (as the 2 of them are connected in some way!).

For instance:

Will Doctor Who return Captain Harkness?

Why can’t he die?

Where did he really come from?

To those people in the rest of the world who are into SCI-FI and have not yet had the privilege to see Torchwood, then you are in for a real treat.

Torchwood, as it happens, is an anagram of Doctor Who. The 2 are connected in some way though we have never really been told the real story behind the connection.

If you haven’t seen it yet, you should!

POOR LITTLE ELLIE :-((

As a continuation on yesterday’s post about the girl who was mauled to death by a dog, here is an article on it from MSN UK news.

(I got the girls age wrong, but that is so irrelevant)

A man whose dog killed his young niece could be prosecuted under the Dangerous Dogs Act after it was confirmed the animal was a type of pit bull terrier.

Ellie Lawrenson, five, was mauled to death at her grandmother's home in St Helens, Merseyside, in the early hours of New Year's Day. She was staying there while her parents, Lyndsay Simpson and Darren Lawrenson, aged 24 and 30, celebrated the new year.

Members of Ellie's family on Tuesday night wept and hugged each other as they laid flowers at the police cordon outside the house where the attack took place.

The dog, a one-year-old male named Reuben, was owned by her uncle, Kiel Simpson, who lived in the same house.

The animal was shot dead at the scene by police marksmen. Its corpse was examined by a dog expert from the Metropolitan Police. He confirmed that the animal was a "pit bull terrier type".

Pit bulls are one of four breeds banned under the 1991 Dangerous Dogs Act, and anyone proved to have flouted the law could be jailed for six months.

A Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs spokeswoman said: "If a person is found to be guilty of illegal possession of a prohibited dog they could face a £5,000 fine and/or six months in prison."

Superintendent John Ward, of Merseyside Police, said that the expert's finding would be considered as part of the investigation.

He said: "An assessment has been made by a recognised expert on the Dangerous Dogs Act, from the Metropolitan Police, and he has confirmed that the dog was a pit bull terrier type. The results of this post mortem will now be included in the investigation and we will be speaking to all family members about the circumstances leading up to this tragedy.

"As soon as the investigation is completed, a report will be presented to the coroner and Crown Prosecution Service in terms of considering what offences, if any, have been committed."

DOG MAULS GIRL

YAY...the festive season has past!

I have enjoyed it, all the food, the time off from work, but enough is enough and I am glad to get back normal.

THANK YOU to everyone that has visited my blog, especially the ones who left comments and wished me a happy Christmas. Hope you all had a good time too.

In the news yesterday, a 2 year old girl had been mauled to death by a dog in St Helens. Apparently she had been dragged from her bed by the dog in the middle of the night. The dog, was owned by her Uncle and was classed as a FAMILY PET!

Now, I like dogs, but I cannot understand these people who find it necassary to have pit bulls and other dangerous breeds. They are a menace and are more unpredictable than SAFE dogs. People should only be allowed these types of animals under special licences and have a good a valid reason to have them.

The poor girl and family.....some FAMILY PET that dog was!
