IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN

I was disturbed to hear on the TV a few weeks ago that some American Generals and politicians were criticising the British in Basra.
It was more directed at the strategy the Brits were employing in that area, which was to vacate the palace there, leaving it to the control of the Iraqi security forces, whilst the British military stationed themselves at Basra airport, which is where their base is.

These Generals and politicians are free to have their opinion on these matters, but I think it is bad for morale that a possible wedge could be put between the  British and American armed forces in Iraq.

I just hope the British and American soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan do not listen to them, and stand together, shoulder to shoulder, looking out for each other, until the day that they can all return home

RUNNING 3 BLOGS

I have decided to run three blogs.

One will be here at tblog, which will be for general ramblings, thoughts and obsurd notions Cool

One will be at Blogdrive, which will be for my new interest and fascination of Self Shooters.

The third will be at Ebloggy (i think, but I may change it to Blogdirve too) and it will be about a new interest that I have, which is history. Not just any history, but British history, which can cover Roman times, The Empire, Medieval times etc. But I will try to make it interesting, fun and informative. (though i do doubt there will be little interest in it, but i will get to learn stuff too)

I have also decided that it is not worth keeping Shoutpost on the go. The main reason for this is because it does not have a similar chatbox like tblurt. Tblurt is excellent for talking to fellow bloggers and getting people to look at your posts.

I ask this yesterday in tburt, but I would still like your opinion and answer to this question?

What is your favorite Weblog host, and why? Tblog, Shoutcast, Blogger, etc

AMERICA-WHERE DID THE NAME COME FROM??

I have always been interested in history, more so British history, since there is so much of it, and I am British and live in Briain - woohoo...rule Brittania.....ok...calm down.....

I have also read a series of books by Simon Scarrow called the Eagle series, and the Sharpe books by Bernard Cornwall, the latter giving great interest on how the English/British colonised and developed their colonies.

So when I looked into the first English colony in America, called Jamestown, I started to wonder where on earth did the name America come from.

There are 2 arguments as to where the name came from. Below (link) is something I found on the net that explains it quite well. Make up your own mind and let me know who you think was responsible for the name America!

THE NEW PUBLIC MENACE

A few years ago, there was a lot of media attention put onto people who listen to music on their personal stereos on public transport. The reason was to get them to turn their music down so others did not have to suffer the “chica chica chica” sound from their headphones.

I can understand why as it would be very annoying to have to listen to that on a journey.

Now I have a new annoyance.

Last night, as I made my way home, I walked into the usual train station. In front was a teenage schoolgirl, and she had music playing from her mobile phone (you know the ones that have little speakers on the back of them)., and it was quite loud.

I followed her down the ramp to the platform (where she stopped walking) and I continued further up the platform. When I stopped, There was another teenage schoolgirl playing music from her mobile phone.

At this point, it was not really a problem as there was enough background noise to make the music tolerable.

The real annoying bit came when I got on the train and sat down. A teenage school boy decided to stand close to me, playing his music very loud.

Don’t get me wrong, I like music, and he can listen to his R&B stuff if he wants to, but I don’t think that I should have listen to his crap, nor should anyone else.

I was a inch away from telling him to turn it off, but luckily for him, he got of at the next station.

Afterwards, I thought that this will be the next menace and unsocial monster on public transport, and even in the streets.

Next time, I will tell whoever it is to turn their f***ing crap off!!!!

That is my winge for today
